5 Activities That Promote Weight Loss
More often than not, when we picture “weight loss” an image of a person training at the gym, or eating healthy food comes to mind. Although these are two very important aspects, we forget that weight loss can be part of our daily activities. You can work on achieving your weight loss goals while participating in activities that you actually enjoy.
We are going to go over a few common activities that you can do on your own, or while enjoying the company of family and friends, that will aid in your weight loss progress
Activities That Promote Weight Loss
1. Take the stairs
Taking the stairs may not really sound like much of an “activity” but it is a subtle change that can have a big impact on your weight loss. This is a great way to get your heart pumping and to burn some calories. If you want to challenge yourself, go up and down the stairs a few times before actually getting to your destination.
2. Walking
Taking walks is a great activity to get in the habit of doing. We love it because you can do it anywhere, any time of year. This makes it extremely easy to stick to. It would be more beneficial to you to turn your walks into power walks, or to increase the intensity in some way. A way to increase intensity is to incorporate hills, or different speeds into your walk.
3. Rowing
Rowing is a great combination workout. You will get both upper body strength, and a great cardio exercise from rowing. Rowing is a great example of something you can get into with your family or your friends. This activity burns between 300 and 380 calories every 30 minutes.
4. Cycling
Cycling in a class, or going for a bike ride are both equally as beneficial. There are a number of ways for you to increase the intensity from altering the speed, to going uphill or doing jumps. The number of calories you can burn with cycling varies depending on what you do, however, it’s generally between 200 and 400 calories every thirty minutes.
5. Cardio kickboxing
Not only is cardio kickboxing a great stress reliever, and an overall fun activity, but it incorporates many different exercises. Some courses will work on strength, others will work on flexibility. Once again, depending upon the intensity of your kickboxing activity, you could potentially burn between 300 and 500 calories per class. Also, kickboxing cardio is something many different types of people can enjoy, whether they like to work out, or don’t. Invite your friends and family to make it a little more fun!
